The concept is simple:
We take young peoples passion in the arts and create volunteering opportunities for them to shine. We now have young people (15-19 years old) from all over Exeter, East and Mid Devon who volunteer for us to deliver music workshops for their peers. We have worked with thousands of young people over the past few years.
This project has been noticed nationwide, and has been externally funded, and commissioned, to deliver a wide range of projects from tackling access for young people in rural isolation, working with young carers, young offenders, young people in care and young people with disabilities.
We have many strong partners in our communities who rely on us to support wider agendas, from delivering training to music leaders in the private and third sector to supporting the work of The Devon Educational Music Hub.
Our reputation is built upon strong youth work values, instilled by professional Devon Youth Service Staff, all our young volunteers are inducted into the project in a professional way and are offered all manner of accredited outcomes that have been highlighted as good practice and spotlighted by national media and partners – of course we also use the most up to date music technology and are very accessible to teenagers!
The Collective has a commitment to empowering young people to make decisions and as such we have a constituted range of decision making within our project, the young people are responsible for our project plans, social networking, designing workshops and new methods of working, website upkeep and everything in-between.
